'About 15 years ago, needing to undertake some restorations and repairs on a couple of walking sticks that I had collected as part of a new and interesting collections’ hobby, I started to search the ‘net to find out more about the design, structure, materials, styles, etc of walking sticks. Although little was available in Australia, I found that stick dressing was a very popular pastime in the United Kingdom, with many sites dedicated to product, technique, style, and so on. With that I was hooked! I moved from collecting to making, becoming and remaining fascinated in particular by wholly made sticks, that is; bespoke, hand-made, and somewhat traditional but not too fancy. That means, of course, that no two sticks are ever the same.'
